BRANDON SOLOFF

SOLOFF-BIO

BIOGRAPHY

The primary focus of Brandon’s work is people: portraits and nudes.  He paints from life; believing a strong rapport with each subject or model is critical for a unique rendering on canvas.  He has completed commissioned portraits of several distinguished society, business, collegiate, and political personalities, and his work is on permanent display at several institutions, including: Dartmouth College and Westmont College.

Studying extensively in Italy, France and the United States, Brandon concentrated on drawing and painting with Charles H. Cecil and D. Jeffrey Mims, fresco with Ben Long on the Transamerica Fresco Dome, and sculpture with Martine Vaugel. He spent short stints with other artists and a year at Haverford College. He studied and copied drawings and paintings in the Harvard Fogg Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Uffizi Gallery, the Louvre, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Musée Henner Paris, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Brandon continued in the atelier tradition as an instructor at Mims Studios, Charles H. Cecil Studios, Martine Vaugel Sculpture Studio, the Washington Art Association, Atelier Brunelli, Studio 126 and Studio415ny.  He currently teaches at the Art Students League of New York, The National Academy School in NYC and Chelsea Classical Studio.
